Senor Onion graduated this morning from preschool. It was a lovely little ceremony where they walked in carrying assorted signs that looked like clouds and flowers and things while the song, "Wonderful World" as sung by Louie Armstrong played. Each class sang a song and then they received their diplomas. AND DONE. Then we had a little potluck lunch while the children ran around screaming and crying. Really it isn't a party (even if people are stone sober) unless you have a portion of the party-goers in a state of chaos. Most of the screaming/yelling was some of the boys playing Star Wars.
My sister met us there as she is in town going on a job interview. If she got this, it would mean the world. She feels like a bum and like going to college was sort of a bust. She loved school but the whole getting a job and being a grown-up thing is a little more precarious. (a lot of young folk are in the same boat) Let's hope something comes out for her. A friend of hers has started a side business cleaning. (she is very good) I may hire her to hose down this joint once things have been moved. A way to get her started. She and my sister may work together on that as well. Just think, you could hire very very well-educated ladies to do your dishes. You've always wanted someone who can discuss queer theory while they vacuum your living room. It's a living.
Tonight (as my kind sister is in town) Mr. Jenner and I may go to the movies. We have a coupon. Romance is not dead. I am sure something will explode. It's the movies. I love cinema. Last night I found myself watching totally awesome/epic steady-cam shots from assorted films. I wish my brother Tom had been around. We would have nerded out hard-core. I found myself watching this totally fucking amazing shot from "Soy Cuba". God damn, you can see how every modern film-maker steals like woah from it. Soviets. Who knew. Got to space before us and also did sexy cinematography too.
