Jul. 2nd, 2012 11:44 pmThere are so many things I want to say but my brain is pretty addled at this point. We did a lot of packing, moving, storing, dumping, culling today. We went out to dinner at Ivar's. This isn't fancy but now and then you just want extreme comfort food. As Mr. Jenner's Father (who loves the place) points out, "there is fish and beer, a view of the water, some boats, it's perfect." Indeed Dr. Jenner. Indeed. Senor Onion ordered some grilled salmon and he ate it up with glee. He loves salmon. He kept saying, "This is SO good. I LOVE this soooooo much." Miss Biscuit had the tuna fish and decided to only eat the chips and the crackers from my chowder. Mr. Jenner and I had oyster shooters, clam chowder, and some fish and chips. We are hoping to grow gills soon. We went to Elliott Bay Books and bought things. Books for cousins. Books for the kids. A book for me. I wanted more but space is limited. I know that there are book shops galore out there.
Now we are in a hotel tonight. Tomorrow we go back to the house, finish the packing of suitcases, throw away more things, return other items, and if all else fails, just dump things on the side of the road and say, "free to a good home. Just take it for the love of God." There was a brief bit of time this afternoon when Mr. Jenner and I were hiding in the remains of our bedroom. We sighed. I said, "I suppose since I am not having any more children... we had to come up with some equally chaotic and insane project to pass the time." He said, "I suppose so." I then said, "At least the pain is spread out more equally this time."
After the children went to sleep, I ordered ice cold coca cola (now and then the craving for that stuff comes on hard. I rarely drink soda but on occasion one must yield) and an enormous slice of chocolate cake. It came with fruit and whipped cream. It wasn't too sweet but very dense and moist. Watching "Louie" and eating cake. This is the good life.
Tomorrow will be... different.
