One of those days. Some good, some excruciating. Despite the excruciating side, I made ratatouille. I took care of a couple of errands. I went to the bank to deposit a check. (the cash point doesn't do check deposits.) The guy who helped me looked so young. I am sure he is a capable adult but he looked like he was barely fifteen. Maybe it was the shaggy hair and the remains of acne. He was absolutely professional but I did think, "is this some sort of secondary school work scheme?" It was a little bit like when you are in your late twenties and you encounter a doctor about your age and you think, "how the fuck are you a doctor?" The passage of time and that feeling that you aren't exactly grown up. Only now I think I am a grown up and they are letting children handle money. (though maybe letting kids handle it is a better idea than some of those bankers. Better it being spent on ice cream and the latest gadget than hookers and blow and supercars.)

As Bude is a seaside holiday/surf town, this means a great mass of English people wearing hardly any clothes, walking around in swimsuits/shorts and flipflops. So many sunburns. My god people... are you TRYING to make dermatologists rich? A whole nation trying to look like old saddle bags before they're forty. Maybe the pain of the sunburns is a perverse form of penance for enjoying themselves.

My brother in law is part of an open house art thingie (so exact, I know) this weekend, so we will be stopping by to say hello. I may check out a few other artists. Time to class up the joint with some more things to make it seem less spare.
We also attempt to go to the beach tomorrow because today's attempt was just a tragic failure involving tantrums, car parks from hell with several broken pay station, and the futility of so much.
BUT the day did improve. I made summer pudding too and that was pretty good. I also had a nice chat with Mr. Jenner.

Tonight I was helping Senor Onion to floss his teeth. He has this one loose tooth that has been causing him a bit of pain while eating and he doesn't really like to touch it. (fair enough) I began to floss that one tooth and he pulled back in pain and that sudden jerking motion and me having hold of the tooth with that bit of floss caused it to fly across the room and hit the wall. A rather dramatic approach to tooth removal. He was quite surprised but pleased. Thankfully the tooth fairy was wise enough to keep a few bits of change about so she can make a visit tonight.
