baked goods

I love zimtsterne cookies. My friend D. made me a batch for Christmas a few years ago and I ate all of them up. I decided to make some today. They are a bit of a bitch to do, to put it lightly. BUT they seemed to have worked out. They aren't the prettiest things but they seem to taste nice. Mr. Jenner gave them his seal of approval. At first I thought, "oh like hell I am going to make these again any time soon." but because they were pretty delicious and because they weren't so perfect, there is that itch I get where I want to conquer something. I WILL master these cookies.

I went to the bakery today to pick up bread, and the price has gone up. They were incredibly apologetic about it but I know that because of the lousy Summer, and the bad wheat crop has caused prices to jump. I do feel for the baker because they really don't want to raise prices and it isn't like he is getting more money out of it.
