I was feeling kind of low about a cake I made. It was so-so in my head. But then Senor Onion came home and had some for tea and declared it the best cake ever. Thank you Senor Onion for lifting my spirits.

Recently we had our parent/teacher consult thingie with Miss Biscuit's teacher. Miss Biscuit is considered a happy healthy little girl and the teacher said that she is an absolute delight and everyone loves her. Blah blah blah adorable sauce. She did say that Miss Biscuit is incredibly strong-willed and stubborn at times but she is learning how to use it better. I just said, "yeah, that's my kid. I am hoping that this personality trait will serve her well in adulthood. The teacher said, "yeah, I don't think she will take any nonsense from anyone, which is great. You want that in a girl." Indeed. The only reason Miss Biscuit isn't actually running a country yet is that she has to go to bed by 7pm. The teacher made a really interesting observation about Miss Biscuit. "I think we sometimes forget because she is so sweet and cute, she is actually wickedly clever." She cited this really hilarious example. When one of the kids is a special helper, they are in charge of handing out plates at snacktime. The plates are assorted colors and one of the things that all the children say together along with the teacher is that "every color is fine, it's okay if you get something slightly different." This is an attempt to keep people from having melt-downs about not getting their favorite colored plate. She said that of course most kids will just grab their favorite plate if they are the special helper and maybe hold it under their arm while passing out the other plates. Miss Biscuit has a much more subtle approach. If her favorite plate is at the top, she will start serving plates from the bottom. If it is at the bottom, she will serve from the top. IF that plate (which is pink of course) is in the middle, she will serve from the top and bottom and she will always always always end up with the pink plate. Her teachers have watched this like five or six times and Miss Biscuit always has a way to get it. The teacher then said, "She is going to go far."

My plans tonight involve letting the children eat all the chips they want, and then sending them to bed. I will then take a hot bath, and read the last of a book and hopefully pass out.
