A few years back when my in laws were visiting us in Seattle, I made some dish which had delicata squash. My Mother in law had never had it before and thought it was pretty delicious. (because it is.) She saved some of the seeds and took them back to England with her and for the past few years she has been growing delicatas in her poly-tunnel with some success. Every year she saves a few seeds to grow some next year. Tonight she had an impressive harvest from the garden and she gave me one of the delicata squash to take home. (I am not quite sure what I might make with it yet, I may just roast with a bit of butter because the flavour is just that good.) It was kind of neat to realize I had the great great great great grand-daughter of that original squash I served one night a few years ago.
I may save the seeds from this one and try and grow some next year.
