weathering
Feb. 12th, 2014 10:53 pmThe rain and hail continue to come at everything sideways. The wind screams through the trees all day long. It comes right off of the ocean and it doesn't stop. We have these brief periods of sunshine and you sort of relax for a little bit. Then you watch as the next storm rolls in. Sometimes you can't even see the ocean. You just see the clouds coming at you. The winds were so high today. I was dropping off Senor Onion at school and I was talking to my brother in law in the school yard when the wind just sort of shifted us. The kids were blowing around the playground like leaves. Eventually the teacher decided to send the children in early because the storm was about to start up for the morning.
When I was picking Senor Onion, I had to hold onto both kids so they wouldn't blow away and to anchor me as well.
Even the sheep in the pastures were saying, "fuck this." and hiding out together in corners.
I felt a little sad when I saw an old tree in the orchard topple over. I suppose the upside is potential wood. (though it would need to cure for awhile.)
aaaaaaaaaaaand the hail begins again. Crackle crackle crackle against the windows.
