Fly update: I bought flyguns on a whim as the reviews were good, and I was feeling kind of desperate about the fly situation. Not a lot of screens on windows in this part of the world. I feel better knowing other people have this problem. So the flyguns arrive, and I hand them to Mr. Jenner and say, "hey assemble this and see how you like it." As they come in pairs, the things proved to be amusing to everyone in the family, and after dinner, they proceeded to hunt down a bunch of flies. I think we may bring them over to my sister in law's today. We are going over there for my middle brother in law's birthday tea. His birthday was a few days ago, but he was at Glastonbury having a big ol' time. He has managed to fall into a rather ideal situation. He knows this guy who is in charge of putting up all those tipis that the fancy people like to stay in, and my brother in law is part of the crew that puts them up/takes them down in exchange for tickets to the festival and a place to park his van for a couple of weeks. (he ends up helping with a bunch of things while there, when he isn't having a beer and catching some acts.) My sister in law says it is kind of nice because he goes off to be a hippie, and she gets a little quiet time, and then he returns and they are super happy to see one another. Of course her quiet time was thrown out of whack this year when one of the twins came down with the chicken pox. But what can you do eh? Everyone offered help, scones, books, and sympathy.
ANYHOW, so there will be a birthday tea today with an enormous cake. We got my brother in law, a bunch of interesting herb plants since he dabbles in gardening like most Englishmen, and he can tend to these with great devotion.
And of course the flyguns. I am sure my nephew would enjoy putting a few flies out of their misery with these.

About two years ago this time we were on the road driving towards Devon in my Father in law's car. It was loaded up with the four of us, him, and his fishing/boating gear as he had just come from a boat race with his brothers. (they raced around the Isle of Wight) We were jet-lagged, Miss Biscuit had thrown up on the flight, and there was that sense of, "WHAT HAVE WE DONE?" So far we have lived and come to know England. Where to begin eh? One day it will be home, but it still remains, "where I live."
