I slept hard last night. The wind and rain are the best things to sleep to. I woke up this morning and there was that brief moment of "what day is this? Oh yeah... Monday." Mr. Jenner brought me tea as he always does.
This morning I took the kids to the church as they were having a harvest festival service. This is significant in that the church we were in, is where this great revival of the whole idea of a service of honoring the harvest in England began. 149 years ago is what Reverend Richard said. Not bad. There were vegetables, grains, and flowers everywhere. The kids brought all kinds of non-perishable goods to be donated to the food bank. The food bank. A thing that didn't really exist in England until a few years ago. Sent the kids off to sit with their respective classes and then sat down as I had agreed to drive them, and their cousins to school. (car-pooling is how it is done.) I do love that church. The columns are a mix of different periods so you see several styles of architecture. I think the Norman columns are my favorite with the carved faces that seem to make fun of everything.
I was enjoying my quiet when school yard dad sat down behind me. There were plenty of spaces to sit and he sat down right behind me. I am beginning to wonder if he has some kind of compulsion when it comes to commentary because he spoke the entire time the service was going on. Like he had to make some "clever" comment every two minutes. I meditated. The wind whirled outside, I listened to the children sing their songs, and half-listened to the Reverend's sermon for the children about friendship and sharing what we have to improve the lives of others and make our life more rich as well. Something about passing a turnip around.
I made sure the children had all of their things. They all require so much on a Monday morning. School bags, PE kit, packed lunches for the girls.

The weather improved a bit. Long enough for me to go out for a run. That run I so desired. I could shake off all the racing thoughts.
I brought my sister in law a bunch of bar cookies, picked up bread, picked up kids, made dinner, and took in the sunshine. For it is about to go away.

If the weather holds up tomorrow I may go back to the church and enjoy some more quiet.
