Despite assorted UK property professionals being lazy gits, (team immigrants here.) we have exchanged contracts and have bought a house. We complete on the 5th of January. (Meaning we get the keys to the joint.) The only irritation at the moment is that my washing machine is dying, and we have agreed to buy the washing machine to the other house, so I have to make this horrid machine limp through to the New Year. We won't move into the new house until the end of January as we want to paint and do a few things and take our time with moving in. BUT once we have the keys I suppose I could go over and wash clothes there. It is tempting at times to toss holy water on the washing machine or consider having the anointment of the sick done to it. "COME ON YOU PIECE OF SHIT, DON'T DIE ON ME NOW!" If it does decide to give up the ghost I can always go to my inlaws and use their washing machine. They are good like that. They have done that for all of their children. The reliable washing machine. You often get a cup of tea and a biscuit while you wait. Plus wi-fi.
A HOUSE. We bought a freaking house. I think we will celebrate by having some more black forest gateau. I live in a bit of a cake desert when it comes to cakes that aren't English in origin. But Tesco has started carrying black forest gateaus in the frozen section, so while it isn't astounding, it gives me the fix I desire. I ordered one on a whim when ordering the rest of my groceries, and it was pretty cheap and really big, so we have to eat this thing. Like champs. I will order one for my birthday, and be so utterly happy.

Yesterday Senor Onion was home from school sick with a nasty cold. I thought it better to keep him home to rest/heal as the school Christmas play run begins this week. (today is the matinee for preschool children and people who can't make the evening performances.) He went off to school a little sniffy but was well today. Miss Biscuit on the other hand was struck down in the night by this stomach bug that has been going around the school. It lasts for about 24 hours but she can't perform in the play until Thursday. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT MARY! (one year a Mary was struck down by chicken pox.) THIS IS HER MOMENT DAMMIT. So we are sitting here at home on the sofa, while she has an ice lolly, and watches episodes of "Garfield and Friends".
