Mr. Jenner is out of town for work, so it is just the kids, the cat, and I.
The cat is taking to his new life. He likes all the space he has. There are so many places to nap. We haven't bought him a bed. Instead he has adopted a towel as his place. He has a few places where he naps, depending upon the time of day. This is a cat who likes a good schedule. Get up, greet people, have breakfast, wander around the house, say goodbye to everyone who is going to school, go upstairs and sleep on the sofa in Senor Onion's room. Same spot. Nap for several hours. Change positions. Maybe get up around noon, walk around to greet anyone, get in the way. Sit in a windowsill. Stare at everything. Return to sofa to nap. If Kramercat shows up... stand back and ask, "WTF is her damage?"
She is getting used to him slowly but surely but she remains offended. Damn woman. DAMN. He isn't going to fuck with things.
When the kids go to bed, he likes to sit in the front windowsill in the living room for awhile before sitting near me and napping some more.
He goes out. Sure he destroyed that one cat door because he wanted to get out, but he returns every single time. We are home. When I go to bed at night he follows me upstairs, visits me while I take my bath, says goodnight and either goes out for a bit at night, or lays down on his towel outside my door and goes to sleep.
He is more like a dog. The way he flops over, and lays around on the floor. Fur of a cat. Soul of a dog. A dog who gives no fucks.

Yesterday I ran the kids ragged by taking them out to the library, a few shops, and then a walk on the beach. Today it was lunch and tea at nana's.

My sister in law, and I have made firm plans to go to the Hay-on-Wye book festival. I found this place to stay not too far away. I found it on airbnb. This woman lives in a big ol' Georgian house, with her dogs, and cats. She has ponies in the fields. She seems to be surrounded by comfortably shabby furniture and vintage china, and everyone who stays with her has the best time. It suits our sensibilities so well. Who doesn't want to hang with some vaguely eccentric welsh hippie, her collection of animals and crockery? Our plan is to go and look at all of the books, buy most of them, see a few talks, and stalk a few favorites. and eat cheese. These are things we like to do together. Books, cheese, and cake.
If you are lucky you might marry into a family with fun people, or you have family that bring great partners into the fold.
