Today I tidied here and there so my kitchen isn't such a disaster. I also did laundry. I spend so much time doing laundry that I ought to wear a crown or maybe a sash that says "Queen of the Lint". In between socks and dishes I entertained Senor Onion.
Tonight for dinner I served tortellini with home-made pesto and I also grilled red bell peppers, mushrooms and garlic. I shocked Mr. Jenner when I told him it had no meat. I am not becoming a Vegetarian, I am just a Catholic who is vigilant in my attempts to avoid soggy fish sticks during Lent. I think making a large batch of pesto was a smart idea. It freezes well and I have been slowly using it up.

Yesterday when I was on a walk with Senor Onion a fire truck came screaming by. (We live near a fire station) I was concerned that it might frighten him but he looked up at me and giggled. He jumps when his Granddad or his Father sneeze/blow their noses but he thinks fire trucks racing by is highly amusing. He is like his Uncle Tom.
When my brother Tom was little he was obsessed with Fire trucks and the whole fire-fighting world. He lived in a little yellow slicker, boots and a firemen's helmet for a couple of years. (he would even sleep in them) It was a grand love affair that only a toddler can have.

The lemon ginger teacake I made a few days ago keeps tasting more and more appealing as the days go on. I think it would be lovely if it was served with gingered whipped cream.

Take a bit of ground ginger and add it to whipped cream. Usually 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon does the trick. It goes well with cake or better yet you put it on top of your hot chocolate so it will have this extra spicy touch.

it's your Bro Tom

If this is his first love then he too like his very handsome and dashing uncle will be bound for greatness...that or really bad excema that will make it hard for him to explain to canidates for female companionship when they ask "hey whats that rash on your stomach"and you really try to exsplain and they just wont listen, then they run away screaming and then when you walk around work or go to partys people whisper when you walk by but not in the good way(says this as he scratches rash on stomach and eats a whole chicken and weeps while listening to Niel Youngs Old Man)

I've always found pizza to be the best way to avoid soggy fish sticks during Lent.

I have to pace myself when it comes to pizza. I love pizza so much. I mean love.
Plus I like meat on my pizza.
There is a place south of us that does some amazing pizza. Oh sweet jesus... cooked in a fired oven. So good.
They also serve good espresso.

The pizza place we had been going to changed hands and the new owners were apparently from some culture that had no knowledge of pizza (or cheese, or tomatoes, or wheat-based dough.) However, we soon found a place by us that has a brick oven and makes the best pizzas I've ever had on Long Island. I'm going to weigh 400 lbs by the end of the year.

I must say some of the best pizza I have ever had the pleasure of eating was on the East coast.
I found the pizza in chicago...meh.
