dinner and boots

Today I tidied here and there so my kitchen isn't such a disaster. I also did laundry. I spend so much time doing laundry that I ought to wear a crown or maybe a sash that says "Queen of the Lint". In between socks and dishes I entertained Senor Onion.
Tonight for dinner I served tortellini with home-made pesto and I also grilled red bell peppers, mushrooms and garlic. I shocked Mr. Jenner when I told him it had no meat. I am not becoming a Vegetarian, I am just a Catholic who is vigilant in my attempts to avoid soggy fish sticks during Lent. I think making a large batch of pesto was a smart idea. It freezes well and I have been slowly using it up.
Yesterday when I was on a walk with Senor Onion a fire truck came screaming by. (We live near a fire station) I was concerned that it might frighten him but he looked up at me and giggled. He jumps when his Granddad or his Father sneeze/blow their noses but he thinks fire trucks racing by is highly amusing. He is like his Uncle Tom.
When my brother Tom was little he was obsessed with Fire trucks and the whole fire-fighting world. He lived in a little yellow slicker, boots and a firemen's helmet for a couple of years. (he would even sleep in them) It was a grand love affair that only a toddler can have.
The lemon ginger teacake I made a few days ago keeps tasting more and more appealing as the days go on. I think it would be lovely if it was served with gingered whipped cream.
