Last night it was French Onion soup. I really love making that. I abhorred all onion-related products as a child. It was almost pathological at times. I would run screaming from the room on occasion when I saw the things. They hurt to eat (being spicy) and I sometimes thought my parents were intentionally trying to harm me by putting it in food. (My Mother is probably laughing at this part) When I was a kid I had a friend and her Mother was a wonderful chef. I used to love eating at her house and one day her Mom made French Onion soup. I was so horrified and I wanted to be such a good sport. I liked the crusty cheesy topping and I had some of the broth but the onions? That was too much. I just could not hack it. I felt like crying about it. Eventually I got over my hang-ups about onions.
Well mostly.
I still don't like raw onions. Some of my family love raw onions. In particular they like sandwiches with raw onion and peanut butter. (Ernest Hemingway was fond of this combination as well) They are most well-received late at night for some reason. I being a kind person would make these for those that liked them. I prefer peanut butter and pickle for my late night sandwich. But that is another conversation.

So we had soup. It was good.

Tonight I am thinking of doing something with salmon. Either wrapping it up in puff pastry or possibly roasting it and serving it with scrambled eggs. Eggs with a bit of chevre, parsley and cream. I also have some tomatoes I ought to put to use. I may save those for tomorrow.

Yesterday I also made muffins.
Today I have reviewed spoons.

ooh yes yes
I still don't like onions- the texture! I'll pick them out of things still to this day- I never "got over it" like my mom said I would!

I am ok with the flavour.
I also hate celery both texture and flavour.
The worst was that childhood "snack" of ants on a log. Guh. Stabbity hate.
