'oh it's the dry heat that is good'
Jul. 2nd, 2002 08:08 pmobservations on a summer day:
-I saw a man who seemed very nervous, pacing, back and forth smoking a cigarette. I sat there and watched him as he kept walking. It was like he was waiting for something. It didn't help his calmness by not having exact change. He then had to ask people on the bus for change. for a dollar. He reminded me of the writer/actor Jon Favreau. Due to his appearance and similar movements, in Swingers. That self-consciousness.
-"Well I think we can tell that no good ho-bag to just wait, because she ain't done nothin' for us" one teenaged girl talking to another teenaged girl about her mother.
-a young goth couple, who were kissing eachother in such a manner, it came across as earnest, sickly sweet and hallmark-card corny.
-someone farting loudly on the bus and the silence that followed.
-Standing on 45th and 15th, feeling the heat from the sidewalks, and the exhaust from buses. The street lingering with the smell of old cigerettes, body odor, and exhaustion that appears about 4:30 in the afternoon.
-an old chinese woman and her mentally disabled grown son.
-two musicians trying to figure out where rent is going to come from.
-wandering through Trader Joe's and eyeing a gay couple argue about which wine to pick, while an old tiny woman yells her opinion to them too.
-staring at a very pretty black man, lying in the grass by the library. He is sleeping.
-people flitting across streets ignoring crosswalks, lights, or any on-coming car.
