I had a hilarious Bad Mummy experience. Not Joan Crawford/Britney Spears bad Mothering. More like Erma Bombeck.
So tonight Mr. Jenner and I were celebrating his promotion with Chinese take-out and champagne. Tasty combination if I do say so myself. After dinner we gathered up all the boxes and stuff and put it in the garbage. Or so we thought.
Senor Onion was playing on the floor after dinner. He seemed to be enjoying himself, we were watching him and watching Veronica Mars. (finally seeing what the big effin hoopla was about the show now that it is over and the tin-hatters are onto new happy hunting grounds of fan-wankery) He seemed awfully quiet. More so than usual. Usually he is making some noise. You know...commenting about what is on television, offering his thoughts on the evening news. I thought maybe he was distracted by the television. I went to pick him up. Then I noticed it. A very small container of plum sauce. He was covered in it. Head to toe. All over his shirt. All over his face. The carpet had a good dose as well. It was quite a sight. He looked amused. Yeah good one kiddo. One for the books. We took pictures. It is important to document this stuff. "Baby's first plum sauce." It kind of looked like he had murdered someone or something.
We had to hose him down. Ah well he needed a bath anyways.
He is asleep now. I think he has had too much fun today. Racing around the coffee table, playing with his alphabet cards and pulling books off the shelf is hard work.

This is the face of mischief. Don't let him sell you anything.

Date: 2007-08-16 03:40 pm (UTC)Congrats to your husband on his promotion.
And I don't think that was a bad mommy moment. Noone was hurt, nothing was broken and you were entertained. That can't be bad mommy.

Date: 2007-08-16 05:38 pm (UTC)Oh man...the thought of the chinese mustard makes me shudder.
I have to say the "instructions for playing with baby" onesie you gave me is one of the best I have received. It has stayed so soft and resisted quite a few stains.

Date: 2007-08-16 05:48 pm (UTC)I just found out at our new house we have a swingset complete with a chair for very small toddlers. Hopefully Alex can put that to use at some point in the future.
