fritos and slimjims.
Jul. 7th, 2002 06:42 pmIt is sunday, one of those Sundays in the Northwest, where it rains continously through out the day. It brings out a lethargic mood in everyone. People were half asleep in mass, half asleep in the bistro I had lunch in, and half asleep in my house. (except for the puppy...the beast is always awake) The mood didn't strike me as one that calls for gaspacho and margaritas.
I made a sort of seafood chowder that calls for one to abandon their diet, feel nice and buddha-like in a bulky sweater and eat well.
I started out by melting butter in a pot, adding a bit of flour, salt and pepper and whisking that. I then added milk and continued beating that. Have I ever mentioned how much I love my whisk? This is the sort of love one reserves for a snazzy sports car, or a large television.
I then put in some pieces of cream cheese, stirred it until it melted. Creamy was the theme we were going for.
In another pan, I sauteed a sliced up onion, then I quickly cooked some small scallops, shrimp in butter.
Butter butter butter butter....*has a moment*
Then I took clams and sauteed that in butter. I put all of that in the cream sauce I had made. I minced some green onions and added that to the mess and ta da. dinner.
I served it with baguettes and thick butter I bought yesterday.
Along with a green salad. Perfect for a raining day.

Date: 2002-07-09 02:19 am (UTC)It is one of those tricky things, whether people become "weird" after the fact. Often I am a chatty sort and just enjoy the moment, smile a bit and then skip off down the street to another adventure.

Date: 2002-07-11 10:37 am (UTC)After having a conversation with the young republican, I realized how much he lack in the department of basic compassion.
no character...he thinks that giving time or money to charity is for chumps.
oh what a fool I am...
