This morning I present you with a little bit of irony.

Through-out most of April we have been experiencing piddly rain. Nothing terribly serious. But we are about to enter May and it seems we are now going to have Monsoon season. The sort of thing where it isn't too cold out but then it will be pouring buckets and buckets.
You can keep the doors/windows open and you want to have pho and read Graham Greene novels.

Yesterday I did my early morning shop at the market. I went to the spice shop and bought a couple of different kinds of salt. (I am sending some off to a friend) I also bought some pernigotti cocoa. It makes for wonderful cakes. I am thinking about making a chocolate cheesecake in a few weeks. (I have this list of things I want to make that I keep so there is always a schedule) This is great stuff as it has a hint of vanilla to the flavor. I went to a different butcher (I wanted to see what their stuff was like) and bought some bacon and lamb. I used the bacon to make spaghetti carbonara last night. Good flavor.
Then I bought some meyer lemons and a mango. The lemons will be used in a pie this week and the mango is for Senor Onion's lunch/snack during the week. The kid gobbles the stuff down. So it may not be local/seasonal but it tastes good.
Then it was off to the creamery. I bought another french butter. The owner told me there are cards they keep so that you can try all the different butters and rate them. Dangerous I tell you.
Then I bought a rhubarb piroshky to share as a treat at lunch. I had a glance at some other vegetables and perused Lamplight bookshop.
After feeding people and putting Senor Onion down for a nap I met up with [livejournal.com profile] bbcaddict and her gentleman friend. We went to Cafe Presse. I rarely ever drink coffee as it makes me feel like I am on a speed bender but their cappuccinos are delicious. (and the drink itself is mostly milk so it is safe) I may not be a slave to the beverage but I can appreciate its wonder. I also had a croque monsieur. Not as cheesy/melty as I like mine but it was good. I will have to try their croque madame next. I convinced [livejournal.com profile] bbcaddict that she needed a Kitchen-Aid stand mixer. I enjoy enabling people's kitchen gadget buying habits. "Best investment. You will not regret it. You will love it like a child." Not to mention if the thing somehow has a stroke, you can have it repaired. It is like an old school buick.

I hung pictures in the guest room, moved a few pictures in the living room and discussed with Mr. Jenner what kinds of things we want to put on the walls next.

Today there is cleaning. And the freaking laundry. The laundry never seems to end.

Heck yeah the stand mixers are awesome. Did you know they have a factory tour and a seconds shop somewhere in the midwest? you can even get a mixer custom painted or out of mix and match colors at the factory.

A factory tour would be way too cool.
I love the color of mine. I originally was going to go for a yellowy color but ended up getting the ice blue one. The best.

Mine is the super-duper-mega-ultra bowl-lift model. In white. Blerg. Oh well, it is still sexy as all hell!

Sounds like you went for the super bad-ass model.
Mine is good for my needs as a home cook.

the kitchen aid mixer was really the only wedding gift I asked for. we had everything else.

ps. you make me want to bake a pie. I have discovered that I have plums and peaches growing in my yard and the neighbours have apples. It may be a pie eating summer and I haven't baked in ages.

The fact that we got one totally and utterly blew my mind. I told the person who gave us the gift that I have to name a kid after him.
I still need to make him dinner.

I got it from my mother's sunday school group. She said they had to get me something after all of the money she's put in over the years for gifts. I said ok, I want this and wala'

Tell me when your store opens.
I want to find something for Senor Onion's room. Something sweet but timeless.
