I am trying to think what I did today. It was attending to small projects here and there. Nothing significant. I sewed, I knitted, I made dinner. It was mostly hanging out with the kid and reading.
A friend sent me a bottle of Vermont Maple syrup and peanut brittle. She is obviously trying to put me in a sugar coma. I appreciate that. I suspect I will make waffles or french toast at some point this weekend. Then I will lay around like a manatee. That is a talent of mine.

I have ordered a new fry pan. We had some that did the job for many years but they are going home to Jesus. The new one is stainless steel! None of this teflon nonsense. I am keen to try it out once it arrives.
I spend much of my time pacing about the house and going, "what can I do here? What do I want to do differently? We should do something about this." I suppose it is a way to occupy my mind on the trivial vs. thinking about "oh hey there is a baby showing up in a few months. REALITY"
So for now I thinking about moving pictures on the walls. And how I have a craving for bad for me snack foods. I will drink sparkling water and pretend to feel smug.
chicken in a biscuit crackers and mexican coca-cola are what I really want dammit.

Mexican cola is almost as good as a Mexican boyfriend.

I imagine your kitchen is filled with Le Creuset, much like my dream kitchen(the one in my head).

I only have a few Le Creuset pieces. It would be dandy to have a lot, but I have to be reasonable.

You must report on it when you get it. Lord knows if I have a frying pan, it's antique, and if I don't, one day I may want to pry myself away from the cast iron (golly, I'm loving that stuff...) and need to know the official Gennie test kitchen response to new gear.

Now that my original Lodge pan is well seasoned after much trial and error, I can see how damn nice it really is to cook with. I'm slowly working the grill skillet and dutch oven up to that level. But genuine frying pans, I have not dared dance with, yet.

I do have a lodge skillet fry pan. Love it and use it fairly often. (great for making pineapple upside cake) We have had these non-stick frying pans for a number of years but they are beginning to flake -not good. This (http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-Classic-Stainless-8-Inch-Skillet/dp/B00008CM6A/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1238862218&sr=8-1) is the pan I ordered. I wanted stainless steel because I haven't really been impressed with non-stick pans all that much. But once it arrives I will play with it and tell you what I think.

Ooh. That looks affordable, even. As well as versatile. And oven useable. My mom had the revere ware from the 50's with copper bottoms and some sort of platic handles, and they were good for stovetop only. The concept of non-iron, but non-teflon frying pans is totally foriegn to me. I apparently have more homework to do.
