Senor Onion apparently knows his father's habits very very well. Mr. Jenner comes upstairs for lunch. Senor Onion points to Mr. Jenner and says, "Use the toilet and then have cheese sandwich!" Mr. Jenner says, "um...thank you. If I ever get lost I know who to ask about what I should do next."
Still quite a sentence and sense of recall there shortcakes!

There wasn't story hour today. (canceled I suppose out of caution) Instead Senor Onion was reciting Hungry Caterpillar. much to the delight of a couple of girls. One girl came up to him and said, "Hello I am Sarah, how are you I am fine." He responded with. "...hi." And then went back to "reading." He is more fond of this little girl who likes to push around her own stroller. Another wild time at story hour.

I finished Linnets and Valerians. Utterly delightful and interesting from beginning to end. Picked up the fourth Cazalet book from the library today. I will get started on that sometime today. I can't wait. Now to think of something for dinner.

There is loose talk from the in-laws about visiting in November. Possibly near Thanksgiving. Thus begins the talks.

Self-catering holidays! In addition there is the garden and animals to attend to. Their place is divided up into these flats. The one grand side is that everyone is a little more poor and can't really afford Ibiza and Spain so much, so everyone is returning to the classic Devon/Cornwall holiday. Bodes well for them -despite the past two summers being absolutely awful when it came to the weather.

Actually this is a book *about* her--a fictional account of her obsession with Branwell Brontë that alternates with a story about a woman writing her dissertation.
I love Rebecca and some of her short stories, but I confess many of her other books don't appeal that much. I think it's time to try rereading them. I have a bunch of vintage copies somewhere. She reminds me of Mary Stewart, one of my all time favorite writers.
I also used to read a lot of modern "Gothic" romances set in Cornwall when I was a pre-teen. :)

Yeah, my dad works pretty much 16 hours/day, 7 days/week, May 1-October 31st! He can rarely leave in the summer. Part of why we had our wedding up there and not down here!
