whatthemotherfuckingfuckfuck fuck STAB StAB GONNA KILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Long day yesterday. Went to a wedding. It was delightful. Okay. Time for sleep.
It was incredibly humid and warm last night. Just as we were going to bed (and it was after ten) there was a truck from the city light company out at the corner. It wasn't like they were actively doing anything but they had the lights and the beeping going. Then they had wires down. Okay maybe this was an emergency? (no lights seemed out in the neighborhood...so who knows) THEN MORE TRUCKS ARRIVED. And again they weren't doing anything except keeping their motors going and letting lights flash and things beep. FOR HOURS. It was too hot/humid to have the windows closed and the sound wasn't even kept out when the windows were closed and the curtains were drawn.
Add this to the fact that our next door neighbor was having a loud party. I could have been cool with the party except the fuckfaces started setting off fireworks around midnight and turning up UP UP the music with heavybass. AND some of these drunk fuckheads were talking loudly out in the street.
Mr. Jenner went to sleep in the basement. I stayed upstairs because I needed to be near Senor Onion. (he was able to sleep because I had a fan going to keep out much of the noise and he hadn't napped all day so he was darn tired)
I sorta slept. They stopped the beeping noise/most of the trucks around 2am but then started it up again around 4am.
I am gonna murder some motherfuckers before the day is through.
City Light just got a query from me about what those dicks-a-plenty were up to all effin' night long. It had better been a super emergency because otherwise they will be wishing they never entered my neighborhood.

So yeah. I am waiting to hear back about what went on. I am so worn but I can't sleep. I may attempt a short nap today. (I can't really nap ever because it makes it impossible to sleep at night) I just have to stay awake enough today to pick my brother up from the airport. I need a BIG cup of tea. Heck I might go and have iced coffee later on. The heat is making my hands/feet swell. I am going to eat my weight in watermelon in hopes of it doing some good. Ooof.

OK, I realize you are pissed and exhausted and pregnant and I risk my mortal soul finding any sort of jocularity in this, but "dicks-a-plenty"? I keep snorting and then having to explain to my kid that I'm not laughing at anything, stop asking please.

It is a favorite term of mine. Like Good'n'plenty but with more dicks.

You guys didn't get the thunderstorm? We had a strike here and took out a good chunk of power where we are, and it's still humid today :-(

We missed it. So no power-outage. We briefly had a bit of rain. My Mom and sister (who live on the Olympic Peninsula) had a terrific storm.

RE: the party people - I'm usually down for 2 or 3 noisy parties but I call in noise violations if they're after 11 and I haven't been invited ;). I can't stand that crap! And I guess it makes me a mean lady.

RE: dicks a plenty -- You might also want to email the city if you can find an applicable agency. I got GREAT turnaround from them when their folks were disturbing my sleep. (Seattle city workers have made a great impression on me when I've actually contacted them.)

The week I filed for divorce, I took ~8 vacation days but stayed in town to clear out my old house and actually file. I was gonna sleep in, maybe treat myself to a few nice meals, make myself feel better. A staycation before they were called that, ooh. (It would actually take 3 months to clear the house out, of spending all my free time there.) I was living right next to the Fremont 2-year construction as phase 1 began -- on the first morning of my days off, the jackhammers began. At 7 AM. RAGE.

I could totally tap right back into that as you were talking about those light trucks. It's is TRULY crazy-making. I ended up emailing the city and was shocked at how quickly they turned everything around and got the contractors to start jackhammering at 8 AM instead of noise-violation 7 AM right outside my window. Not great, but didn't make me such a bear.

Sorry you had to deal with this when it's 250 degrees outside. I sympathize.

They did stop soon after midnight. It helped that I went out on my balcony and looked like I was in the mood to murder.

I emailed the appropriate agency and also found out what went on. BUT NO ONE left any notice of what was going on and when. That is what really sucked. Like with our whole drainage situation, they come by periodically with notices, "hey we are making noise during this period." and so on. And while it sucks to have the noise, we know and we are cool. ARGH. I just like to be warned about shit.

It was the heat/humidity/pregnancy that made me so livid. I could have at least taken something to knock me out for the duration. Plus every time I went to fall asleep, the baby would wake up and kick me.

I am feeling so tired.

On a weekend night, no less! That's just ridiculous that they didn't give you any notice whatsoever. Jerks. I hope that you are able to get your nap on today.

The fact that they didn't give notice is what ticks me off the most.
