Today Senor Onion referred to his sister as "Missus Princess" I think she needs a shirt that says this.
What have I been doing with myself? I hold/feed a baby. I wrangle a toddler. I bake bread.
Today we went to the library. I finally made it to the top of the list for the book Coop which I started today. It is a terrific book like all of Michael Perry's other books.
kitchenwitch you really need to read this. You will indeed want to make out with this book. I am also reading Clementine in the Kitchen. One of those books I have been meaning to read for a number of years. Now its time has arrived. What a lucky book.
My doula stopped by today to see how we are all doing and to give me the birth notes. It was interesting to see the actual time frame of how things went down. Because in the midst of the chaos all rational sense of time stops or at least doesn't make sense. It kind of surprised me how quickly some things went. In the space of a couple of hours my body went, "OMG YOU ARE SOOOOOO GIVING BIRTH!" Thanks body.
We are now approaching Fall. Comfort food galore. Though I suspect I will need to watch it. Sometimes it is too easy to nosh out of boredom. Oof.

Date: 2009-09-25 07:22 am (UTC)Last week when I was leaving the States, I stocked up on all those "Living/Eating" magazines that line the shelves at the airport bookshops. Oh, I AM IN HEAVEN. All the recipes are fall produce-based and many feature apples which we've got an abundance of in Normandy. I've already made apple cake, walnut bread, chicken in a morel-mushroom sauce...
An added bonus is all the Halloween crafts ideas. I never see these issues because I'm usually in the States in July. So we are very excited to see all this new stuff as we pour over the slick pages of House Beautiful, Southern Living (I changed planes in Charlotte), Sunset and Martha Stewart Living.

Date: 2009-09-25 07:27 am (UTC)I bought the Halloween issue of Martha Stewart Living. I doubt I will do most of what she shows off, but all of it is so interesting to read. I mentioned to my husband that Martha Stewart loves Halloween the way some people love sex.
The Autumn-themed life-style magazines are pure pornogoraphy at times but a sort of aspirational pornography. "Look at what you can do." I have a small pumpkin that I need to put to use.

Date: 2009-09-25 07:35 am (UTC)Well, I do too. It's the perfect candy-focused holiday.
I bought black construction paper yesterday and this weekend the kids will be making those bats, as featured in the Halloween issue of Martha Stewart Living. I just printed out the template off her site.
It is my goal to bring Halloween to my little village in Normandy.

Date: 2009-09-25 04:52 pm (UTC)My personal favorite is getting the husband to dress up like Britney Spears. That was a great year. Pikachu is up there as a good costume too.
I can't wait for BD to get old enough to go Trick-or-treating. Then people don't look at you if you're mad, if you're begging for candy as a grown-up.
