there he goes
It's Autumn in the neighborhood.

Even though it threatened to rain I took the kids out for a walk. We had baked some cookies, watched Curious Effin' George and Senor Onion was getting a wee bit antsy. Why not work out some of that antsy behavior around the neighborhood. It was a good decision. They are doing more work on the former hole a block over. They had been jack-hammering old sidewalks to remove them and lay down new ones. We got to see diggers doing their thing, a cement mixer being used to pour new cement to create steps and a walk-way. (this was incredibly fascinating to Senor Onion. Free entertainment!!!) We encountered Donovan the service dog in training. He is a pretty friend lab who isn't above licking the heck out of you if given half a chance. Senor Onion preferred to stand back and point to the dog and smile. I understand. Not everyone is up for a licking before noon. The leaves look absolutely stunning right now. You can look here to see more.
As we were about to take our usual right turn home Senor Onion made it known that he would like to veer off the usual path so we ended up walking up and down hills. What the heck, we had nowhere to be and it was kind of neat to let him do the navigating. We smelled lavender, looked at dahlias, saw cats and observed various bits of construction. Then we came home and ate a pear.
It's a hard life.

I fed people lunch, attempted to get Senor Onion to nap. He did not. He did hang out quietly in his room for a bit and Miss Biscuit did me the honor of actually doing more than cat-napping and not requiring me to hold her for hours on end. So it was a bit of a break. I also got to spend a bit of time with just Senor Onion. We played with some lego, I fixed a toy of his, he helped me with some dishes and we cuddled. (I need to remember to do that more often) I have things prepped for Shepherd's pie tonight. The kitchen is less of a disaster area than it was this morning, the house is vacuumed and I haven't had to do laundry today. I think I may relax with a cup of tea.

Alas I didn't catch it.
I just had some lamb, am married to an Englishman who likes his comfort food and like the fact that the prep doesn't require too much of me.
