autumn day
It was a gorgeous day out for the most part. Perfect Autumn day. It wasn't terribly warm but the air smelled delicious and there was a nice breeze. Bright sun too.

jack-o-lanterns
Our jack-o-lanterns this year. A classic pumpkin face and a ghost!

pumpkin bread pudding
Pumpkin Bread pudding. I put a bit of maple syrup on top and I think it added to the flavor.

halloween window 2
We decorated our windows with bats and pumpkins.

Senor Onion decided he did not want to dress up and collect candy. Which is all right as he has plenty of years to do this. He also didn't nap and was quite out of sorts this afternoon. (multiple breakdowns and an interest in getting into all kinds of trouble.) We decorated the house, did some baking, watched some movies and had a toasty fire. I handed out candy to trick-or-treaters, cooked up some ratatouille and pasta for dinner. (I had frozen the ratatouille a couple of months ago and it thawed beautifully.) It was a quiet but enjoyable evening.

I recognize the template for those bats! We did the same all over our living room! I looked at them this morning with great pity, as they will have to come down today.

Also, I've never heard of a child who didn't want to go out and collect free candy.

It is a terrific template! I will have to make more next year.
We kept pointing out all these details but he didn't want to put on a costume. He isn't quite three yet so I think it is okay. He had a few pieces of candy at home and it satisfied him.

I had asked Senor Onion, "hey what do you want to be?" He wanted to be a fireman. We got the pieces together and then he said, "nope". Wouldn't even try on anything. If left to this own devices he would live in a pair of shorts and the same t-shirt. I don't know what to make of him sometimes. "Who are you kid?"
