Today was a day where I was all wound up. By 5:30pm I didn't like anyone. If I could have, I would have sent myself for a time-out. Some days are like that. Thankfully dinner calmed me down. It wasn't terribly fancy but everyone was relaxed. I sauteed sardines with a bit of olive oil, dill and capers. Tossed that with pasta and toasted bread crumbs and sprinkled parmesan cheese on top. It makes me think of a slightly up-market tuna noodle casserole in terms of flavor. I love sardines. We had this with broccoli and garlic that had been braised in white wine. After dinner children were bathed and put down for the night. I was able to slouch on the sofa with Mr. Jenner. I also baked some muffins for breakfast.

This morning I took care of some grocery shopping and then took Senor Onion to the library. Afterward we went to a near-by coffee shop. The hot chocolate was just so uninspired. Who knew that hot chocolate is hard to make? Senor Onion appreciated the chocolate donut. I had this turnover pie thing and it was just so lousy. I think I may have to bake a pie or something this weekend to set things right. The filling was bland and the pastry was just so tragic. I kept wondering what happened. Is it always like this? Was the chef having a bad day and it came out in the food? It happens. A pie of ennui.

Friday there is the market. We need potatoes. I have no idea what I will make for dinner. Maybe something will come to me in a dream. My family is coming to dinner on Sunday and I think I might make something with lamb. Hey family, what are you in the mood to eat? And don't just say, "anything is fine" I know that. Does anyone have a craving for something? An aversion?
Isn't that great about the internet, I can shout out to my family for everyone to hear like some loud neighbor.

I am thoroughly enjoying The Buccaneers. I keep wanting to write down lines and I find myself thinking, "damn Wharton knew people."

I totally love the Buccaneers. Lately I've felt like that main chick Nan at the end of the series when she... oh wait I don't want to spoil it :D

Pretend I am your family and I am coming over. I'd want capellini pomodoro, but spicy. Thank you in advance.

Ennui Pie. The pie that basically is "meh." Saddest pie on earth. I think I've had that pie.

Also, I'm naming my next goth band that.

Awesome. I hope your band has a kickass bass player. An all lady goth band.

My bff is a bass player. She's badass. I suspect I'd be on drums. Which will be horrifying in a way. I also know a guitar player. So I think I'm set!

Mom and I have been discussing and we both agree we don't want anything with a red sauce.
I myself have been wanting fancy cheese and meats.
Have at it!

What if it was something with wine? It wouldn't be marinara but dark reddish brown?

We will have drunken lamb then. I am not sure what else I will make to go with it. Probably a salad and some sort of starch. Plus we have this italian truffle cheese. I will make pie and a sorbet.
tada. dinner.

You are so cheap.
I might do asparagus since there is supposed to be some at the market today. Though I might just eat all of it up. Because I am easy.

I will think on the pie. It depends on what is available at the market.
