Today was a day in Seattle where everyone went outside and had their love affair with the weather. That sexy sexy orb in the sky who makes everything seem wonderful and perfect. Mr. Jenner & Senor Onion went swimming this morning. I had to stay home with Miss Biscuit as her current condition makes going to the pool impossible. I had my suspicions that she was coming down with Roseola and it was confirmed when she began to break out in a rash and her fever disappeared. She is in pretty decent condition she is just a bit blotchy. While the boys were out I churned up a batch of riso gelato and ate some of the left-over bits as a second breakfast. Hey it had rice, milk, eggs... it's healthy-ish.
After doing a bit of tidying up with the family and running an errand I went out with my friend Kathleen. I took her to PFI which is this food importer shop. They handle a good number of specialty food shops and restaurants in town and they have pretty sexy prices. It is like wandering around in a crack den built just for me. I came home with all kinds of things. Marmite for Mr. Jenner, turkish delight, salted caramels from France, artichoke pasta, a pound of pecorino, elderflower presse, a pound of English farmhouse cheddar and okay... a pound of olives. I will be creating some beautiful things. After fondling the goods for awhile we went to Cafe Presse for beverages and food.

I had the chicken liver terrine with a sour cherry compote. Yes those are cornichons. I also drank a fair amount of hot chocolate. Kathleen had a really beautiful salad and some bread with butter and a marmalade that didn't exactly impress us. At least the service was good. The servers today had some truly fantastic tattoos. It was like a bit of walking art. One server had this tattoo of a cross section of an avocado.
Then it was time to bid Kathleen adieu. She had to meet up with people for another meal. This is one of the many reasons why I like her. That and she encourages me to find pretty things.
Home again home again jiggity jig. Children were mildly irritated and it was warm out so we took the kids on a walk through the arboretum. Senor Onion decided to step through every mud puddle he could possibly find. He was not wearing his boots so his jeans were nicely coated with mud. He seemed pretty happy. Miss Biscuit enjoyed the sun and the shade. There were many people out walking on the paths. Some with dogs, many with cameras and some were even having picnics. We encountered a young man playing his clarinet. He wasn't tossing out hot cross buns. Oh no. He was playing something rather jazzy. Was it Gershwin? Maybe.

Spying a baby duck together.

Meandering across the bridge

We like pink!
As for dinner I put together some pasta with sardines, capers and toasted bread crumbs. There was also a salad because gosh darn there is always a salad. No scurvy here thank you. Eventually children were put to bed and we enjoyed the sun setting. It isn't too warm. It isn't too cold and we could hear neighbors enjoying the creeping evening. This is Saturday in June.

Toile is just so pretty. I saw This shirt (http://www.threadless.com/product/2153/It_s_Toile_About_You) on threadless. It made me think of you.

On an almost vampiric level.
