Wednesday was indeed kinder.
I got some things accomplished. I let loose when I needed to let loose and I had fun at the grocery store with my son. Miss Biscuit had real naps, the kids and I had fun reading stories and I felt good about today.
I harvested a bunch of beans from the garden. I blanched them and then sauteed them with a bit of olive oil and then sprinkled some salt on top. They were great. I also made some tortillas and served that with some rice and beans. We also had some prosciutto and spinach. The meal didn't make a great deal of sense but it was delicious. I even managed to clean some of my kitchen. There is always more to tidy.
Tomorrow I will see if I have enough berries to make cobbler.
So. Next year when we go to Mr. Jenner's brother's wedding in May, (still with me) we are thinking of going somewhere else after the big shindig. We are toying with somewhere in France. A week of hanging out, eating excellent food and playing with the kids. Nothing is written in stone. Maybe we will go to Italy or Spain or The Netherlands. But five or so days of just having a nice little holiday. We can't travel to Europe all that often so we thought we might as well use the excuse to see more of mainland Europe and expose the kids as well. The hope in all of this is that by traveling with them early enough that they will be grand travelers one day. The sort of folk who can adapt to situations with some grace. We keep our expectations to a minimum and know that we aren't going to be doing everything. (there is a lot of downtime when traveling with small people) But it is still good for everyone. Plus it can be fun. I need to think on this a bit more.
I am also thinking a lot about buying a bicycle these days. I have no idea where this will lead me. Just a pretty ladies bike that can hack a few hills but won't make my backside hurt too much. Oh the research I do.

Date: 2010-08-12 06:47 am (UTC)Barcelona in southern Spain is nice. Amsterdam wouldn't be so great with small kids, and in May is likely to be quite rainy.
And Finland might still have snow...

Date: 2010-08-12 05:02 pm (UTC)We aren't going to attempt to do hard-core sight-seeing. I think we just want to wander around, eat a lot and let the kids run around.

Date: 2010-08-12 01:47 pm (UTC)Off topic, but I have parenting advice to ask -- which did you do first with Senior Onion -- potty training or the new bed? We're at the point now where we could do either, but I don't want to do both at the same time (for obvious reasons).

Date: 2010-08-12 05:02 pm (UTC)We moved Senor Onion into a big kid bed pretty early since he hated his crib and wasn't sleeping well. (we found a nice low to the ground bed from IKEA. Which they don't make anymore which sucks because it is a great bed)

barcelona! land of your ancestors!

"barcelona."
