My back is slowly improving. I don't feel super wonderful but I am not moaning so much. Well I moan but mostly for entertainment. This getting old business is not amusing in the slightest. I need to have a serious chat with my back. "hey pal" (I call my back pal) "This shit is real old and we need to fix this for good."

In other house-improvement news we had a window replaced downstairs It has been needing attention for some time and finally it was done. It was a whole involved process with the appointments changing but a kind man took care of our window despite the fact that it was raining out. It was truly ugly weather. So there you go. Painted bedroom, new window. All in one week. What next??? I almost want something else painted.

I also made a pretty terrific sour dough starter this week. Well it looks terrific. Tomorrow we will find out if it tastes decent when used. Despite completely screwing up my back many things were accomplished. Got through a portion of a long term project, did laundry, and read a couple of books.

All on a diet of toast, tea, tylenol, and vicious wit. RAWR.

Do you know what the root cause of the back issues are? Because you are too young to be saying things like getting old is not amusing. There must be something going on.

It is a whole host of things. I broke my tailbone when I was 17 and with that came some nerve damage and the lower back has/always will be a bit funny. Upon reflection I admit I didn't take the full time to recover from that. I being an asshole at the time, went on a kayak trip that had me sitting in an uncomfortable cold position for 10 plus hours a day for several days.
Having children... that did some things.
Ever since my car accident, my neck/shoulders have been off. (PT/MT helps but it is a hard fact of life that I have a couple of discs that want to go places and grind against each other like teenagers at a dance)
I also think it started in my twenties that I started to hold much of my stress in my back. Probably about the time I gave up most self-destructive habits.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you it would probably really help a lot to be doing some strength training - yoga, pilates, core work, etc.

Maybe I will do yoga. I have to say, I kinda hate pilates. I did them for years when I was in ballet and they did their thing but I HATED them.

Yeah I prefer yoga to pilates. I tried pilates and omg so fucking boring I wanted to scream. Yoga has a little more to it somehow. I always feel like pilates is some kind of boot-camp non-spiritual version of yoga. Only it doesn't feel as good. And it's boring.

Yes. I think yoga might be more in tune with keeping me calmed down. Pilates was part of the warm-up before doing barre work and it was such a fucking chore. FINE FINE FINE I WILL DO THE FUCKING PILATES GOD THESE ARE BORING.
Yeah I am not a boot-camp sort of person.
Hrm. Now to go in search of yoga.
