have another cup of cocoa
Feb. 1st, 2012 09:54 pmHurray for February. We've made it through January in one piece more or less. We've managed to inventory the workshop, office/basement, the kitchen, dining room, and living room. I have a lot of kitchen stuff. but we knew that. Next to go through the bedrooms. Wish me luck. Saw another lovely house today. It's available now but it is always interesting to see what is coming along. Now that people in the surrounding villages know that we are looking, it will probably make it a bit easier. My Mother and sister in law have a knack for knowing what is going on at all times. Having tea with my husband's family means I hear all kinds of entertaining things.
Senor Onion continues on his with his cold of doom. It seemed like he was on the mend and now he isn't. He was begging to go to bed at six pm. He just looked tragic. Poor kid. At one point today he was upset about the state of things and yelled, "Isn't there something to make this sickness go faster." I sympathized a great deal. Because I often think the same thing. COME ON NOW! It feels like eternity.

I make a brew of 1 sliced lemon, 2-3 tbs coriander seeds, 2" cinnamon stick, 4-5 cloves, 2" fresh ginger - sliced or coarsely grated - and 1 litre water. Bring to the boil, simmer for 15 minutes or so, and strain. Serve with honey, and drink several cups throughout the day. I find it speeds up the fever and helps the body sweat it all out.
