A form of escapism

It's raining outside.

Let's call this bitch-face with mug.
The rain is pouring and pouring. The front garden which is totally paved (because the owners are obviously brilliant) has a bit of standing water. You practically need to ford across the garden to get to the car. This is where a childhood of playing Oregon Trail pays off. (we hope.)
The constant battle for a bit of pretty and a bit of practical is at play here.
Maroon dress with a black bird print. I got this off of eBay so the tag was cut out, I think it is Dorothy Perkins. It is lined so it adds some warmth, and I think it is a pretty attractive cut as dresses go.
I threw on some black leggings, and the grey wool cardigan, and I think I was ready to face the day. I also have on my fancy-pants Hunter wellies, and Corallium by Carthusia perfume.
Took Miss Biscuit out. We went to the library, the bakery, and the grocery store. We even stopped at one shop and found her a winter coat as she is about to grow out of her present one. I did buy it big, so it will last a couple of winters. It's pink with polka-dots. The major appeal was that it was half-off. At the bakery we had a nice chat with the woman who got our bread. I think she is fond of Miss Biscuit. We bought everyone in the family a treat. Chelsea bun for Mr. Jenner, a lemon twist for Senor Onion, a multi-sprinkled donut for Miss Biscuit, and a jam Viennese for me. The grocery store wasn't too bad, but the place is a lot more cluttered as they are putting up more and more stuff for Christmas. I did find something to bring home to my sister. My family should expect a lot of English foodstuff this Christmas.
The house is tidy, it's nearly the weekend, and I think I will make meatloaf. I make a pretty mean lamb meatloaf.
