You are Storm!

You are very strong and very protective of those
you love. You are in tune with nature and are
very concerned with justice and humanity.
Unfortunately, certain apprehensions and fears
are very hard for you to overcome, and can
often inhibit you when most need to be strong.

Which X-Men character are you most like?
brought to you by Quizilla

Now I shall go to work, make a little justice and peace for all, while chatting up people about books.

You know you want me.

Many members of the Miss Gennie Gibson fanclub often write in and ask me, "Dear Miss Gennie, Not only are you a compassionate, well-rounded individual who possesses a wicked sense of humour and mighty fine legs, I understand you are also multi-talented in the arts. Where ever did you acquire such amazing and diverse talent?"

I wish I could say, it was God given (but I don't think God would want all of that credit. God is a humble being after all.
Much of my lovely talent is due to my mother. Mrs. Theresa M. Chedoen of Port Townsend.

She put me in ballet training at the tender age of three, thus providing me with grace, charm and the ability to be so flexible it makes grown men nervous.
She put me in Art lessons, so that I might develop my Talouse-Latrec inspired artistic abilities (okay...so that is a bit much, but we can dream, can't we?)
She had me in Orchestra so that I might be aquainted with violin and cello.
She also wrote parts for me in plays she and her friend Chris, wrote, directed and produced.
(I was a fabulous child actor, lacking pretense until the age of seven, when I discovered sarcasm...but that is another story for another time)
She also taught me voice. Thus, I can belt out a song with the longing of Dinah Washington, the umph of Liza Minelli (pre-gay husband, post Judy Garland television specials) and the ability of...well me.
Anyways.
My mother provided me with a lot of artistic possibilities, and she did give me life, and she has been there through thick and thin and back again.
Plus she is a pretty fun broad who is right now raising two kids on her own, plus a baby goose, two ducklings and soooo many pets I think she qualifies as a zoo at this point.

Somewhere in between being a parent, musician, part-time farmer, artist, writer, musician and smart-ass...she has this alter-ego.
We aren't talking Sybil and a million personalities.

We are talking about something a little more fun then that.
She is a cowgirl singer in a band.
She is known by the name of Sallie Jane Schwartz. One of a trio of 'sisters' known as "The Schwartz sisters" and they perform! They have a regular caberet act, (which I have attended and is always a riot, they even have groupies) They have performed at Northwest Folk Life Festival and will be appearing there this year Sunday May 25th, Exhibition Hall Lawn stage 3:40-4:10 (hey, this is my Livejournal, I can do all the plugs I want) and they have just produced their first CD.
*pauses for the round of applause*

You can check out their cd Here
You can listen to a few of their songs (some of which are written by my mother) and think to yourself,
"wow...Gennie comes from a pretty damn eccentric family. Not only does her brother Tommy rollerskate downhill, at night during a rainstorm, but her mother plays piano in a cowgal vaudeville act."

Yes ladies and gentlemen, we are a very talented bunch. Watch out.
