I am watching a slightly depressing and equally beautiful film called, Love with the Proper Stranger
It stars Natalie Wood and Steve "bad-ass" Mcqueen.
It shows off this cold beautiful side of New York in the early sixties. I am hypnotized by the film.
It starts off so bleak and jaded and then it is now turning into a sweet love story.

Odd...

I want to look like Natalie Wood when I grow up.

I thought I had the bottle of nail polish tightly closed.
I tripped over my own feet. Spilled it all over my hands and a bit on the coffee table.
I had to laugh. I managed to clean it off the table, and most of it off of my hands. It looked like I had been involved in a massacre. (might as well change my name to Squeaky Fromme)
So then I turned on the fan and opened up all of the windows to get rid of the unpleasant scent of nail polish remover and nail polish.
Good lord. And all I wanted to do was repaint my toenails.

Now they are bright revlon red. My legs are shaved and my hair isn't too ugly. I can leave the house.
I will probably just end up going to the grocery store.

It is a glamorous place...kinda.
Okay maybe not.

Last night Andrew and I had our dear friend Elizabeth over. She brought over the booze and the giant ice cream oreos.
I think I am inlove with her. She gets me slightly toasted and gives me fatty things to eat. What is not to love.
We are thinking of possibly going to the Floriday Keys for New Years.
The idea of spending my birthday in a warm climate seems downright decadent.
I secretly like the idea of having a tan in January. I also think a big dose of vitamin E will help me face the long dreary onslaught that is winter in the Northwest.
Sure there may be giant lizards which eat people, poisonous snakes, and sharks. But I think I can overlook that.
I bet the giant lizards and I can make friends.

....

I was watching CBS Sunday and they always do their usual calm essays. It makes me think of NPR. They were talking today about the top ten songs/jingles that are stuck in people's heads.
The type of songs that make you want to drive an ice-pick in your head to make it go away (I understand, last summer that stupid Kylie Minoque song wouldn't go away and I wanted it to more then anything)

There were some amusing things on the list.

The kit-kat jingle, "who let the dogs out", and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" Which I happen to like. But we have come to accept in life that I like a lot of things that aren't terribly fashionable.

A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh...

Speaking of things that aren't terribly fashionable.

I am beginning to overcome my formerly deep shame of loving Robbie Williams.
I am going to take a cue from [livejournal.com profile] tlc71076 who attends a Christina Aguliera/Justin Timberlake concert with the enthusiasm of a Southern Baptist at a revival meeting.

*dances about to Robbie Williams in her new frilly black panties*

Yeah I like him that much!

Someone very dear to the world at large has left us. Ed Townsend the songwriter who wrote one of the best pop songs ever, passed away.
This is the genius who brought the world, "Let's Get it On". This is the man who has helped so many people get laid.
A moment please....

This song reminds me of a boy I once liked. Once upon a time. He had such a confident attitude and a very appealing manner. He invited me over one evening, we had bourbon, talked about Castro and then he did something that will linger fondly into my old age. He put on Marvin Gaye and asked me to dance. I wasn't wildly crazy inlove with him but he held my attention for awhile. Bourbon, a love of Fidel Castro, and "Let's Get it On" are the things that make wreckless youth so appropriate.

I think I continued to hang out with him after that because of his terrific collection of soul music. Our brief relationship consisted of drinking beer or bourbon, talking about soul music, Chuck Norris films, Why we liked Castro, and going to the grocery store late at night together.

If anyone should doubt this song. Have a drink and find someone with whom to dance.
Soon you shall be able to feel a warm electric feeling in the air.
