My youth will be well thought of.
Aug. 17th, 2003 03:34 pmSomeone very dear to the world at large has left us. Ed Townsend the songwriter who wrote one of the best pop songs ever, passed away.
This is the genius who brought the world, "Let's Get it On". This is the man who has helped so many people get laid.
A moment please....
This song reminds me of a boy I once liked. Once upon a time. He had such a confident attitude and a very appealing manner. He invited me over one evening, we had bourbon, talked about Castro and then he did something that will linger fondly into my old age. He put on Marvin Gaye and asked me to dance. I wasn't wildly crazy inlove with him but he held my attention for awhile. Bourbon, a love of Fidel Castro, and "Let's Get it On" are the things that make wreckless youth so appropriate.
I think I continued to hang out with him after that because of his terrific collection of soul music. Our brief relationship consisted of drinking beer or bourbon, talking about soul music, Chuck Norris films, Why we liked Castro, and going to the grocery store late at night together.
If anyone should doubt this song. Have a drink and find someone with whom to dance.
Soon you shall be able to feel a warm electric feeling in the air.
