Have some...no really.
Apr. 5th, 2004 08:00 pmToday I went to work. Thankfully to keep from losing my sanity I got to work with
irishotter who talked shit with me all day long and drooled over guys with accents.
Co-workers like her make the day pass.
Then after that Mrs. Chazbot, The Mrs. Chazbot, Mother of Miss Gennie came into Seattle today and we hung out for awhile. Which was nice. We decided not to go drinking because we didn't want to have me pour Mrs. Chazbot onto the ferry. Nothing worse then a toasted Mother on state transportation. She was a bit hungry and so was I. She wasn't excited by hom bows and I wasn't keen on happy hours. So we went to Le Pichet and went for divine decadence instead. We ate some good bread and butter. Olives draped in a mustard sauce and then I had a country pork pâté with honeyed walnuts, mustard and cornichons. Mrs. Chazbot decided that since she had spent a considerable sum on cured meats and cheeses she needed something a little different. She had the escargot. Which was served sizzling in a skillet. She was not disappointed. She said it was the perfect thing to order and had an exquisite taste. She finished up with some very good coffee and a chocolate madeleine.
I like this restaurant very much for its zinc bar, its vast wine selection, its incredible food and for its courteous and genuinely kind staff. They leave you to enjoy your meal but offer suggestions without any attitude. I think a number of belltown restaurant servers could take a note or two from that.
We also went to a book store.
I got my required brisk walk today that involved walking up nasty steep hills where I grimace the whole way and then lie to people and say it was "invigorating". To add to the blood rushing quickly I ran a full city block to catch a bus. My heart can rest now. Maybe I should just spend my life racing to catch busses to get my exercise.
Or maybe not.
