I know Kung-fu
Nov. 4th, 2004 09:30 pmBright and early this morning I went to work. I made beautiful displays. I then went over to Port Townsend and visited the family. Oh that was wild good fun. Mike showed me his thumb. It is all bandaged and with a brace. Underneath are seven stitches. That is how he ended his Halloween evening; sitting in the ER with my Mom holding her hand while he had things repaired. He swore like a sailor. My Mother said if someone was listening from the outside it would probably sound like there was a drunk middle-aged man swearing.
Not bad for a thirteen year old kid.
I went to the library and saw the Librarians. That is where I worked in High School and all of the Librarians have known me since I was two or three so they are like family. They enjoyed looking at the ring and telling me how wonderful my sister is. I worked there. My brother Tom worked there and now my sister Kit works there. Tradition! *Launches into the song 'Tradition' from "Fiddler on the Roof".*
We went about town, saw people I have known forever, went home and visited with Boo the hyperactive dog of perkiness. THEN (Yes there is more) I went and watched the rehearsal for "The Tempest" by Willy the Shake (my little reference to Lord Buckley) My sister is fabulous. Most are fabulous AND I got to watch some drama unfold between high school students. It was classic.
Anyways I had a nice drive back to the ferry with my Mother where we discussed Fathers, weird childhoods and bridesmaid dresses. We also talked about sex. But that is a given. *snorts*
I made my ferry on time and then I did the three minute mile to catch my bus. Infact I ran seven city blocks in three minutes. I timed myself. Go me. Plus I had two minutes to wait for the bus. Which gave me time to convince myself not to vomit. Running really fast uphill in the freezing cold isn't all that fun, but it sure warms you up quick. I kid you not.
Oh the travels of me.
I even bought Maple sugar candy. *slobbers for awhile*
So, I had a great moment today. When Mr. Jenner and I met
emmabovary when we were on holiday; she was talked about how French women have this instinct for tying scarves. She is right. This is something I noticed all around Paris. Every single woman had perfectly tied scarves all of which looked a bit casual but oh so perfect. Even the daughters of
emmabovary who are just young girls could naturally tie their scarves with such ease. It makes a person feel like a total dolt when thinking about it too much but one shouldn't compare themselves to the women in Paris. That is just crazy. So my great moment was realizing that I too have actually mastered the technique of tying my scarf like French women do. I have been wearing a heavy scarf the past few days because it is colder then a witch's tit outside. I just tied it up without thinking and adjusted accordingly and voila; perfection.
Yes I am on the road to becoming a full-fledged woman. Forget this whole having your period and being an independent broad thing. I can tie a scarf in the most chic and perfect manner.
Now I think I need a drink.
