Well darlings, it is time to go to work. Let's see how I can wreak a little havoc on the hearts and minds of many.

I may bring in cake as well.

Update: It seems that they are remaking Brideshead Revisited with Paul Bettany and Jude Law. Now I love and adore the original but if Jude Law plays the doomed Sebastian I am there in a heartbeat.

I spent a day reading a book while on the job. I wanted to read at least half of it today and I accomplished that goal. I will read the rest tomorrow and write a review. It is one dandy little read.
I thought of [livejournal.com profile] cogshiftingman when I read it. Though there are less breasts then he would wanted. I was feeling a bit spiteful today in light of a few comments made by a manager so I decided to read as much as I could all while doing my job.
I had some lovely polite kind interesting customers who thought the world of me and some douche-bags I wanted to kick with my shoe. It was a Thursday. I had this one customer who was a rather dapper gentleman who asked many questions. He had a kind smile and a very gentle and grateful demeanor. I noticed this cologne he had on and it wasn't overwhelming or anything but the scent was engaging. It had a slightly sweet scent to it a bit like vanilla but not exactly but it had some strong masculine notes. It made me feel rather giddy. It makes a person want to smile and breathe it in a bit more. It is a bit of a shame more men don't wear just a touch of scent. A clean soap scent is nice on a man but just a touch of cologne (and not that cheap disgusting stuff associated with slime-balls is not what I mean) can always bring a bit of a smile and flutter of eyes from me. It makes me think of Cary Grant of Errol Flynn.
Another sweet customer I helped was an Australian man who was asking about "The Prophet" and "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" (books I recall very well from CYO summer camp) He laughed at my jokes and again was incredibly grateful for the help. I think just a touch of that gratefulness means a lot to any day.

I brought in cake and everyone was happy. This particular angel food cake came out extra spongy and light and has the right touch of stickiness. It melts in the mouth.

Now I am making soup for dinner. It is the ideal thing as it is grey and raining tonight.

I had this insane idea for a book. My Mother kind of offered inspiration. Way back in the day (when my Mother was a teenager I believe) she came across this article in a teen magazine called "The Student Princess" and it was how to by-pass all the boorishness and banality that is high school and being a teenager and kind of transcend into being a person that is your own. It encouraged amusing things like owning a jacket with a bullet-hole in it and making vague references to a possibly wild personal life. The whole plan was to end up either inspiring a bit of fear or admiration from your fellow human beings. She often handed out this article (she kept it around and referenced it a lot) to teen-aged girls and it made things so much more bearable. I took it to heart and in a sense made it a mantra and this is where I have ended up.
This book would be The Student Princess grown up. How to get a way with a few things in life, enjoy things a little more and not letting the bothersome people of the world get to you. It would be tongue-in-cheek and chock full of snark and possess a very Auntie Mame sensibility.
Now to write the damn thing.

My sister is a teenager now and is beginning to take it on as well. The other day she announced she wants to date a Kennedy just so she can casually mention it in conversation, "That is when I was dating a Kennedy". These are her current plans. Now to find the right shoes for the occasion.

We are all talk and silly fun. This is why people love the Gibson girls; our ambitions are amusing.
