I had this insane idea for a book. My Mother kind of offered inspiration. Way back in the day (when my Mother was a teenager I believe) she came across this article in a teen magazine called "The Student Princess" and it was how to by-pass all the boorishness and banality that is high school and being a teenager and kind of transcend into being a person that is your own. It encouraged amusing things like owning a jacket with a bullet-hole in it and making vague references to a possibly wild personal life. The whole plan was to end up either inspiring a bit of fear or admiration from your fellow human beings. She often handed out this article (she kept it around and referenced it a lot) to teen-aged girls and it made things so much more bearable. I took it to heart and in a sense made it a mantra and this is where I have ended up.
This book would be The Student Princess grown up. How to get a way with a few things in life, enjoy things a little more and not letting the bothersome people of the world get to you. It would be tongue-in-cheek and chock full of snark and possess a very Auntie Mame sensibility.
Now to write the damn thing.

My sister is a teenager now and is beginning to take it on as well. The other day she announced she wants to date a Kennedy just so she can casually mention it in conversation, "That is when I was dating a Kennedy". These are her current plans. Now to find the right shoes for the occasion.

We are all talk and silly fun. This is why people love the Gibson girls; our ambitions are amusing.
