Nothing like going to a party where there are a lot of co-workers and hearing a wide assortment of salacious gossip.
Oh what slutty bunnies I work with. It is worse than drama club.
I admit I was a bore and left fairly early. For I am old. I came home Mr. Jenner was there he loved the quiche I left for him. (He had gone to a play that evening while I went to a party) and then we climbed into bed and listened to Eddie Izzard on BBC. It was good to cuddle and listen to my favorite sexy transvestite talk about the new testament.

My favorite bit is when he is talking in the voice of God and saying, "because James Mason is God". (James Mason is one of those actors who I have an uncomfortable crush on. Can't explain it)

Now to tackle a wide assortment of irritations today before I primp and prep for a wedding this evening.

Bestest wishes to the bride and groom. They are one of those genuinely nice couples that are fun to have about. I helped the bride pick out her jewelry earlier this week. She will look fab.
As I told someone, "The bride is Jewish the groom is Catholic so if they have kids they will become cashews." just say it out loud and you will get it. hahah..ha..um.ha. yeah.

Immediate reactions
It was a lovely wedding and very funny as well. I must say I teared up big time when I saw Nurit walk down the aisle. I am a dork. She looked absolutely beautiful and really excited. It was an all around nice wedding and there were plenty of fun people to chat with. [livejournal.com profile] thiscantbesoy and I had ourselves a big ol' time and she should be at every wedding. Hilarity I say. Hilarity. The best man did well too. [livejournal.com profile] athena offered up some of the best obscene commentary and we both agreed certain shoes on people with thick ankles are not meant to be. What else...I met [livejournal.com profile] rebeccmeister (she is a cousin of the groom) who was quite nice and had cool pink streaks in her hair. It was perfect for the wedding. Ariana looked incredibly glam with her hair done up the way it was. She even managed to look glamorous when her son was doing his best to be difficult in the middle of the ceremony. I swear it seemed like a hefty portion of people that are on my friend's list were at this wedding. The groom's side seemed to be mostly relatives and you can spot Cusacks a mile away. They all look alike. All of them. The Brides side was made up of Jews and a sprinkle of goys for flavor. Did I mention how lovely Nurit looked? Oh my gosh...so pretty. Great hair.

Reception and drinks
I liked the food. It was simple, filling and easy to obtain but dammit...they with-held the tater-tots from the adults. The cake was also very good. Just enough to keep me cheerful. There are some questions about the lemonade. We suspect there was rosemary in it. the masses would like to hear a confirmation from the bride or groom on that one.
I think a favorite moment of the evening was discussing how many of us are vague (especially to our parents) about how we met various people we know. Especially people we met online. The famous line that is used is "through mutual friends." The consensus is that in ten or twenty years that it won't be such an issue and Joe (man-whore of the maid of honor) said that people will begin lying and say they met someone online when they actually met in a bar. Wishful thinking.
The best speech was given by the best man who feigned extreme drunkenness and caused a few relatives to worry. Then there was dancing. Oh my gosh they did the chair dance thingie and everything. I think the Oirish Catlicks were way more into the dancing in a circle thing than the Jews were. They were soooooo excited. [livejournal.com profile] thiscantbesoy said she wants to have the chair dance at her wedding. She wants to know if she can steal traditions from other cultures. I say go for it.

I waded my way through a lot of punch and water because it was so warm. It was so warm it caused my cool hair-do to wilt. It was all big and stuff. Kind of Valley of the Dolls meets J.Lo. I was proud of the effort and product that went into creating that look. Damn weather.

Now we are home and out of our grown-up clothes.

My goodness...my friend is married.
