I didn't have Hoppin' John on New Years Day. Instead I made potato leek soup, because that is what I wanted. Warm soup, a salad with prosciutto and goat cheese and some warm crusty rolls. Dessert was whatever a person could find in the kitchen. Mr. Jenner had more of the remaining Christmas pudding and I had some leftover chocolate bread and butter pudding.
I watched the first episode of Cranford. It was so delightful and engaging. There are all these well-known British actors in it who could phone it in and still turn in a great performance, but they don't They give it their all. They really give a lot of depth to these characters. I loved it. I can't wait to watch the second episode.

Today I am going out with a friend for drinking chocolate. I think we may also investigate ribbon and trim. I want to look at a few things to see if it would work for my next long-term craft project. Lots of things to research and contemplate...

Ornaments have been put away, the tree has been taken down and suddenly there is a great deal of room. I made so many ornaments (and bought a few) this Christmas season that I need to find a new box of some kind to hold everything. The rest of our Christmas decorations will stay up until The Epiphany. Then away it all goes. Maybe I will later make some sort of heart-themed decoration at the end of the month for that most dreaded of holidays. I have to get my craft on.

I have this delicious pile of new books by my bed. (and some other piles about the house) Where to start...
