me. you. waffles.
Jan. 15th, 2008 03:18 pmLast night it was raining hard and then it began to hail in earnest. Finally it snowed. Though we only ended up with maybe a quarter of an inch. It did mean that for a number of my friends they had to deal with the grand incompetence that is Metro bus and Seattle drivers. If there is a hint of snow in the air it means traffic falls apart and people just walk miles to get home because it is quicker than sitting on a bus next to the guy who has a potato in his pants and wants to tell you how it saved him from the aliens.
Our street is one giant ice sheet. Most of the morning you could hear people slowly drive on the street as the ice crackled underneath them. While it is cold as a witch's tit outside, it is bright and beautiful.
I thought it was good weather to make an apple pie. I also tried out the waffle iron I got for Christmas. Senor Onion and I scarfed down waffles and sausages for lunch. We then made happy noises. I make some pretty delicious waffles.
The pie looks quite nice too. I also made an extra pastry crust so I can make quiche at some point. (either later today or tomorrow)
After gorging myself on carbohydrates I watched Funny Face. I had not watched the movie in a few years. It is pure pleasure. Dancing with Fred Astaire, the fashions of Edith Head and Givenchy, Paris and Kaye Thompson. (and of course Audrey Hepburn) What is not to like? It satisfies like a souffle and kir royale.
Speaking of pretty clothes I have spied this pretty dress. I wonder if I could ever get away with wearing something like that. I like the print. I seemed to have dropped some weight some where on me. My clothes are feeling too loose again. In that sort of dumpy bag-lady kind of way. Still isn't the body I had before Senor Onion... just different.
But enough boring talk.
I have books to read and dinner to contemplate.
