Clarence likes rum punch
Jun. 7th, 2008 03:07 pmI got up at an uncivilized hour this morning.
Though nearly any hour in the morning is uncivilized.
I drove to Port Townsend and saw my Mom. She is well. I brought her books, a magazine and an amusing story about how I had managed to lock the keys of the car in the trunk. (thank you AAA for unlocking the car so I could get to my keys. Yeah. I know. Gennie...what were you thinking?)
The view in her hospital room was gorgeous. It is worth it to get sick to get the million dollar view.
She is doing great. She is in hardly any pain and the medical people said she won't have too much trouble walking.
The super amazing awesome news is that it looks like the hospital bill won't be an issue as she has nooooooooooooooo money. And there is some good talk about giving her short-term disability. (which would help a great deal toward the not working thing) The girls at work figured out a way to cover her schedule for a couple of weeks and then told the boss, "Mrs. Chazbot can't come in." So that is good. I brought the family groceries and took care of a couple of errands.
I then brought my Mom a cup of really good coffee. (She was jonesin')
I also told her about how Winston Churchill's Mother (Jennie Jerome)who had a bad infection on her foot when she was in her fifties and had to have it amputated; so she is in good company.
As for Mrs. Chazbot's amputation, it was pretty minor and they didn't have to remove any of the lower joints. Though she did tell me about the x-ray and how there wasn't any bone left in her big toe.
Yeah.
Gross but cool. (if you think that kind of thing is sort of interesting)
So. I am back.
Things are under control and there are a lot of family friends helping.
My Mom said she feels like George Bailey at the end of It's a Wonderful Life.
