I went to the farmer's market yesterday and went on a bit of a bender. "oooh that looks good I shall buy that." (Sort of like Burglar Bill's approach to stealing. "That looks nice, I'll have that.")
I ended up taking home a half flat of strawberries. I suspect my son ate about a quarter of the box but there was still enough left over to make strawberry sorbet. This is one of Mr. Jenner's favorite things. I told him it will probably be the last batch I make for the season. He will have to suffice with citrus sorbet during the Winter months. I also bought a bunch of beautiful Gala apples and I canned some applesauce with that. It was just a tiny batch as I wasn't sure how these apples might taste when cooked. I added a bit of cinnamon and Senor Onion declared them good.
Tomorrow if I keep up with this level of energy and organization I will make can some kosher dill pickles.
Maybe in the next few weeks I will get some apples and make apple butter. Apple this. Apple that!
I also have this strange urge to make chutney. Who knows how that will pan out.
Oh I also made another batch of pesto to freeze. Woohoo. I know how to live it up.
In the midst of all of that I have been drying more herbs, monitoring my squash and hoping for more sun. I have a million Brandy-wine tomatoes. They are all green and I hope some of them will bother to ripen before the first frost. If worse comes to worse I will just rip the plant out by the roots and hang it upside down in the garage.
Now to make more lists.
I think we will have scrambled eggs for dinner.
