The birds began tweeting and cawing a little after four this morning. It made sleeping difficult. Then I began to think about things I need to take care of. Then I began to think about large social issues and how I might solve them. Then Baby Biscuit began to kick, and I had some shoulder cramps and my welts were itching. It was about five am so I gave up sleep. It just wasn't going to happen.
I woke up, went through some email, saw how the world was doing, read some of a book and enjoyed the early morning sun. Senor Onion was up a little after six and entertained me with cuddles and his various thoughts on things. He came out with quite a sentence this morning in the bathroom. The hamper was open and saw his orange shorts he said, "I suspect that my orange shorts are dirty and need to be washed." I stared at him for a moment to make sure I had understood what he said. He repeated it. Mummy being the loquacious sort before seven said, "....yes that is quite right."
Mr. Jenner woke up, people were fed and then I went off to acupuncture.
I hadn't seen my acupuncturist since about early December. I had had a sciatic attack and I was about to visit the in-laws and so she helped the pain (seriously the woman is terrific) and to put me in a calm state of mind. It was probably about the time I conceived baby biscuit. Well it seems she has been busy too. She was way pregnant. (38 weeks) I also caught her on her last day before taking leave. Thankfully she has taken on two people to cover things. We had a nice chat and she did wonders for my lower back pain. I also fell asleep in the chair despite being covered in needles. I had several needles in my ears and my neck. It felt good. I wasn't in a deep sleep, but I relaxed like a cat. She mentioned, "While it isn't always a sure thing, sometimes acupuncture can help induce labor." I said, "oh I am keeping that one in mind." After that blissful hour (and a quick stop for a muffin) it was time to come home.
A bit of dilly-dallying and watering the garden while it was still cool enough and then off I went for a short shopping trip. I came home with a lamp. It has certainly helped the living room.
I went to the farmer's market today. There were peaches and raspberries. The raspberries are the first of the season so they aren't amazing so I will wait a week or two before buying up flats to make jam. (I have to make chocolate raspberry jam to hand off as gifts!)The peaches were so sweet. I think I may have to make peach ice cream soon. Came home with ripe tomatoes, basil, zucchini, fruit and meat. So many beautiful things.
I am slowly solving some things that need sorting and the underlying frantic nature I am feeling is going away. This is good
The weather is so warm that it makes everyone lethargic. I bought a small wading pool for Senor Onion. He absolutely loves it and spent a good hour and a half playing. Give him a few of his bath toys and he can pour water for hours, claiming he is making a cake.
I think I shall make a strawberry/raspberry sorbet for tomorrow.
But first I need a root beer float.
