Let's go somewhere
Mar. 20th, 2010 11:46 amMy idea of a good time is grocery shopping. I even got to do it sans children this morning. Not that they aren't entertaining company but they do make the whole shopping process a little more complicated. Buckling/unbuckling and so on.
Anyhow I picked up a few staples and I also came home with a pretty delicious looking goat cheese from France. I think I will put it on some crostini with dinner tonight. Braise some broccoli with plenty of garlic and then do up some pasta with a bit of guanciale, peas and maybe crimini mushroom. Need to think about it. Maybe we will use up the last of the pate for a starter. I am thinking/writing out loud. This is how dinner goes.
I have to go and pick up meat from my meat guy in a litle bit. Lots of pork!
So. Yesterday I was out on the deck enjoying the gorgeous weather (hello Spring) and I was holding Miss Biscuit and walking toward the door when a board on the deck began to split beneath me. Oh my! Thankfully we weren't hurt and it didn't completely fall apart but it did make some things very very clear. The deck needs to be replaced. Pronto. Mr. Jenner and I have been discussing what needs to be done to the house and the loose plan was, "get the balcony, front entry and the deck replaced." Well after the board splitting I called up a guy. Not just some random guy but a guy on the neighborhood Mom's list that was on a list of good people to call if you need a deck built. I also looked him up on google and in the greater Seattle area he is admired for his skill, his ability to keep you from going broke and his general awesomeness.
The deck guy is coming over bright and early on Monday morning to give us a quote and so on. Hey ho if we get this deck stuff fixed in a timely manner maybe I will attempt to be social again and have people over to admire the deck and eat food. Maybe even eat food ON the deck. Anything is possible.
Maybe I will bake brownies later on...
