My sister shared this link about one person's struggles with leaving the Church. It touches on so many things I feel and I think many other Catholics feel at times.

...

It's Monday. There was laundry, errands, dishes and a walk with the kids. Even the strawberry bed was slightly weeded. (still more work to go.) Now there is bolognese sauce simmering on the stove. For a brief period today the weather was attractive so out we went with Senor Onion leading the way. We saw many tulips blooming. I saw a couple of gardens that needed weeding and I had this strange urge to go and clear out their dandelions. I held back. It would have been too weird. "don't mind me. Just taking care of a quirk." We ended up at Arosa for snacking waffles. (Senor Onion's idea) Then off we went again. We saw many dogs along the way. A scottie, a husky, a corgi and a tragic black lab who had just stepped upon a bee so he was limping. Poor thing. We even said hello to the mailman.
I had grand hopes about the kids having decent afternoon naps. That went to pieces when Senor Onion decided to play the harmonica about the time I got Miss Biscuit down for her nap. I appreciate the fact that he is musical I just wish he would pick a more appropriate time. I keep forgetting to lose that damn harmonica.

Now things are grey outside.

I ordered a new cookbook that should be arriving this week. I am excited.

I thought Senor Onion was eating whole apples. The little bugger was eating parts of them and then leaving them on bookshelves or something. I have three partially eaten apples that need to be put to use. I suppose I will make applesauce.

Last year I read the book Mariana by Monica Dickens. It was absolutely fantastic. One of the best books I have read in some time. It was just one of those books that make you go, "YES EXACTLY!" Because it is everything you want. I read a lot of things last year. But this year so far I am floundering when it comes to books. I have read a few things and they were all right but I keep waiting around for a book that will make me want to press it upon people and go, "read this now dammit. NOW" I want to fall in love with a book.
Time to wander around in a book shop or something. Maybe I should peruse the Persephone catalogue to see if they have something new and soooooo engaging that I must have it now now now.

I keep trying to read Elegance of the Hedgehog but I keep wanting to smack the shit out of the characters. I may have to give up and I very rarely ever do that.

On that note what has everyone else been reading lately? Anything that you love and adore?
