Today was a pretty decent day.
I want to thank various people for giving me perspective about Senor Onion. I also had a chat with the woman who kind of heads all of the cooperative preschools in Seattle and she was very encouraging. This woman has been studying children/families and working with kids for well over thirty years. She knows her stuff. She said that Senor Onion is very friendly and obviously enjoys preschool and that I shouldn't take it personally when he acts up. She said, "This is important stuff that he is learning. Every kid has to work out their little kinks now and if they do -by the time they reach kindergarten they will thrive in school because they know how to navigate social situations." I volunteered today in the class and he did pretty well. We worked through a few things and we had a blast with the art projects. The highlight was decorating some votive candle holders with a ton of glitter and tissue paper. I am going to be finding glitter on myself for months. Glitter glitter glitter. Glitter.

My sister is home from school! I picked her up from the light rail and she came over briefly before taking the ferry to see our Mom. It was good to see her. The semester has kicked her about a bit but she looks great. When she was on the plane she IMed me. (Virgin America offers free wifi) It was kind of a hilarious moment. "Wait... you are flying right now?" "yep" "OMG We are living in the future...NOW" Then we riffed on our Jetsons-like existence for awhile. The kids were glad to see their Uncle G and Aunti Kiki. Always a party when they are over. Though Miss Biscuit kept giving people the side-eye. Seriously.

I won something from the strangercrombie auction. It is the annual auction put on by the local alt-weekly. They have a lot of crazy things to bid on and the proceeds go to some awesome charity or two. The offerings range from the paper offering to review something for you to sex toys to a custom revenge rap to a year of brunch at some restaurant. I won this gluten-free play-dough and some fun tools to go with it. When I told Mr. Jenner "Hey I won one of the auctions" he looked mildly worried and asked what I won. I told him and he said, "oh okay. I thought you were going to say that you won a gay male stripper and they were coming to live here." (I am sure this has been an offered item to bid on) I mention this to my sister and she came up with this whole scenario of someone in their... stripping costume hanging about the house, doing Miss Biscuit's hair, helping with the dishes and so on. Maybe next year. I am going to donate some of the play-dough to the preschool. We can only handle so much play-dough.

The basement continues to dry out.
