you look thin
Feb. 9th, 2011 10:57 pmMy brother Mike stopped by today. I had a lamp for him. (we had one we wanted to get rid of and his place is in need of a bit more light) I also sent him home with some pulled pork. It isn't that he doesn't eat and he does know how to cook (very well in fact) but whenever he stops by (and brings great joy to his niece and nephew) I always like to make sure he goes home with something. I do this just about anyone who comes to my house. If I can't send you home with something then I need to feed you, otherwise how else will you know that I love you or care about you? Even when a friend stopped by with food for me (and oh boy was I delighted. Sweets from Taiwan!!!) I had to give her something as well.
I am not inclined to freely share my emotions with most people but I like to make people very happy (even if it is just for a few minutes) by giving them something to eat.
James Beard was right, "Food is our common ground, a universal experience."
As for dinner tonight, I made a soup of broccoli & potato (rather creamy I might add) and served that with some bread & cheese. Of course now I need to make more bread tomorrow. I will think about that in the morning.
