I did a great deal of laundry today. I made dinner. I wrangled children. I picked things up a million times over. I discussed the history of houses with Senor Onion. He has developed this deep deep interest in houses. He likes to build houses out of lego, duplo, quatro, blocks, the dining room table, chairs, pillows, blankets... whatever he can find. He painted a picture of a house at preschool. It involved a red fridge, a blue sofa, a green door, a chimney AND a tree outside. Why yes I was wowed. Cross-sections of houses are fascinating stuff. I have reserved some books at the library on the subject of houses. Who knew it would be so useful to be reading the Bill Bryson book on the history of private life and homes. Thanks Mr. Bryson, you are making it easier to explain all the whys to a four year old. The kid has so many questions. I admit I hand off some of the more complicated physics/astronomy related questions to Mr. Jenner. There are times when I have to stop and really think about something and how to break it down. Keeps me busy.
