good ritual

My Mother came over today. We went to this book shop that sells nothing but mystery books. She has been wanting to go there for a long time. I love this place. The people who work there are passionate about what they sell and they are just so darn nice. I ended up buying this one book because the staff-member was so enthused about it. I wanted to tell her, "as a retired book wench, I have to commend your fine fine work."
I love this place because they have a section devoted to Northwest authors (of which there are many) AND they have this extensive section devoted to Sherlock Holmes. Everything from the original stories to assorted books on the subject to adaptations. They even have some out of print stuff. You can easily wander around this small shop for hours. Blissing out on all kinds of stuff.

Then we went home and I made tea/coffee for people. My brother Mike showed up and it was a pretty nice Sunday. I made dinner for everyone. (a venetian pork dish that has mushrooms and is served on a bed of polenta) There were also lemon bars and ice cream for those that wanted it. Senor Onion showed off his latest pictures and lego models. Miss Biscuit would show her baby doll to Grandma and sit all snuggled up with Grandma. (partly because Grandma had on earrings and a dress with shiny buttons. My daughter is a total crow.) Both kids ran around with her yarn. This is the kind of Sunday dinner I enjoy. Assorted family, funny conversations, chatter about books and movies and then good food to eat.

Now to face Monday.
