Another Wednesday at my son's pre-school. It was a pretty good time. I spent some time making masks with some kids. Senor Onion did a great mask that had all these tiny foil leaves. Then I helped Senor Onion and the kid who he has had some history with, build a pretty impressive railroad track. (brio and thomas the tank engines FTW!) The two have been getting along better as of late and they played really well together. They didn't argue and they helped each other to build track in a rather civilized manner. "can you hand me that? thank you" I was proud.
A few of the girls spent much of free-play caring for baby dolls and playing some version of house. When it was clean-up time, the girls were putting their baby dolls away (which tend to live in this toy crib) and one girl decided to put her doll in a cupboard. The other two girls proceeded to yell at her that that wasn't where the babies went and the girl who tried to do this began to yell back that this is where she wanted to put the doll. It became pretty emotional. It was like watching a junior version of a fight on a Mommy blog. I had to remove the two girls and say, "don't worry. It is all right." They kept going on about it so I re-directed them to go and clean up some lego. Woah there ladies. I wouldn't put a baby in the cupboard but what the heck, maybe the baby is better off there.
