We are slowly climbing out of the jet-lag hole that often consumes a week of our lives. It helps that it is pretty beautiful out. It isn't too uncomfortable in terms of heat (there is a nice little breeze) and everything is pretty delightful.

I went to the farmers market this morning and found an epic amount of rhubarb. While picking through the stalks I started talking to a woman. She was asking me what I was going to do with mine. I told her I was making sorbet. I mentioned how I put balsamic vinegar in mine. She wanted to know if I put it on top or in it. I explained how I cooked down the rhubarb with the vinegar and how it boosted the flavor and color of things. She was won over by this idea. It is always fun when you end up having a chat with a stranger about food. I had another with a woman in a cheese stall. She convinced me to buy this one kind. It was delicious. It will be served tomorrow. I also bought some gorgeous porcini mushrooms and asparagus. I have to say that going on holiday kind of kick-started some inspiration in the kitchen. I have ideas for dinner for the next few days.

A few errands were accomplished and the kids were entertained. Senor Onion helped me make the sorbet and compote. We also made agua fresca since we had a watermelon in the fridge that needed to be used up. He also suggested hot dogs for dinner. It is time to break out the barbecue!
